Is your child on their phone AGAIN?

Children love using their phones. How about encouraging them to use their phones to support their learning?

Phones can help children overcome challenges at school and can increase their independence. Here are some suggestions as to how.

By the time your child gets home from school have they forgotten what their homework is? With their teacher’s permission, your child could take a photograph of the homework instructions when in class. With all the details captured on their phone, the chances of your child forgetting the homework task or misinterpreting the instructions when they get home is greatly reduced.

This tip also works with Sports fixtures. Your child can take a photo of the fixture notice that lists when the match/training session is, the time, location, kit required etc. They can share the information with you, and then you are fully informed. This will help avoid last minute panics and frantic ringing of friends to try and determine where your child needs to be and when for a sports event!

Does your child get frustrated because they work hard completing their homework and then forget to hand it in? If so, they could set a reminder to go off on their phone either on the journey to school, at break time or lunch time to remind them to hand in their homework. This will help ensure that their homework is handed in on time.

These strategies will help your child become more independent and self-reliant, reducing the pressure on you to be constantly reminding them.
